Trey Garlough, N5KO invented the Cabrillo Specification to provide a method for consistent data formatting that sponsors could use in the submission of electronic contest logs. Garlough was also involved in building the log submission infrastructure (i.e., the robot) for receiving and storing electronic contest logs.

Garlough was an integral member of the team that assembled the HC8N contest station in the Galapagos Islands.
