Bob Cox, K3EST

Inducted: May 1996

Bob Cox K3EST was introduced to ham radio through the Boy Scouts and received his KN3EST callsign in 1958. He grew up rubbing shoulders and operating at big multi-ops around the Potomac Valley Radio Club.

Cox became involved in the management of the CQ WW DX Contest when he was invited by K6SSS to become a co-director with Larry Brockman N6AR. They worked together for 7 years before Cox became sole director from 1977 to 2012. This period experienced the transition from paper logs, to computer-assisted checking, to full electronic log submissions. He expanded the CQ WW Contest Committee to have volunteers from around the world.
